The jetty

Our own jetty, where the yard meets the water.

Winsko's base on the Trans-Woji waterfront in Port Harcourt has its own jetty, and it is where all of the company's marine work is carried out. Pipe, plant, materials and crews are loaded here and go out to swamp, creek and river locations across the Niger Delta.

The 100,000 square metre base has a main gate and a second exit at the jetty, so loads move from the yard, the workshop and the warehouse straight to the quay. Low beds bring heavy plant to the water's edge, cranes load the barges and tug boats take them to site.

Winsko's barges, tug boats, speed boats and house boats are based here. One rule holds for staff and visitors alike at the water's edge: no life jacket, no entry.

FAQ · 05 questions

Questions, answered.

Short answers about the Winsko jetty, from the company profile.

01

Does Winsko have its own jetty?

Yes. The base on the Trans-Woji waterfront in Port Harcourt has its own jetty, where all of Winsko's marine work is carried out. The 100,000-square-metre fenced base has a main gate and a second exit at the jetty.

02

What does Winsko load at the jetty?

Pipe, plant, materials and crews for swamp, creek and river locations. Cranes load Winsko's lay, ramp and dump barges alongside the quay, low beds of 35 and 40 tons bring heavy plant to the water's edge, and tug boats tow the barges to site.

03

What vessels and equipment work from the jetty?

Winsko's register lists ten lay, ramp and dump barges from 400 to 1,200 tons, tug boats, five speed boats, house boats for 40 and 80 people, an 80-ton track crane, tyre cranes from 22 to 50 tons and a 10-ton self-loader truck.

04

Can materials be stored beside the jetty before loading?

Yes. Winsko leases yard and warehouse space on the base, next to the jetty, and clients stage materials there, from sand and chippings to equipment, before the barges carry them to swamp locations.

05

What safety rule applies at the jetty?

No life jacket, no entry. Everyone on the quay, the barges and the boats, staff and visitors alike, wears a life jacket.
