Marine & Land Logistics

Logistics, leasing & supply. Marine and land logistics from Winsko's own jetty, land and swamp plant on lease, and materials sourced, checked and delivered to site.

The service

Our own jetty, barges and trucks, moving the work to site.

Winsko describes itself as an engineering, procurement and logistics contractor. From its own jetty on the Trans-Woji waterfront in Port Harcourt, it moves crews, pipe, plant and materials to swamp, creek and land locations across the Niger Delta, on barges, tug boats and trucks it owns.

On the water, barges of 400 to 1,200 tons are towed by Winsko's tug boats, speed boats carry the crews, and house boats for 40 and 80 people put accommodation on location. On land, Mack low beds of 35 and 40 tons, tippers and a 10-ton self-loader truck move plant and materials to the waterfront and to land sites.

The same fleet supports operators' own logistics. Winsko has supplied tug boats, ramp barges and a dump barge at Nembe, Soku and Cawthorne Channel, modified flow station piping and supplied hoses and connectors for crude oil barging in OML 18, and built a concrete tank at San Bath to support barging operations.

Method · 05 stages

How a move runs.

From the cargo list to the empty barge back at the jetty, with the checks that close each stage.

  1. 01

    Plan the move

The cargo, its weights and sizes, the destination and the route are agreed with the client. The tide and the creek decide how a marine move travels; the road and the load decide how a land move does.

    • Cargo list with weights and sizes
    • Route, tide and weather checked
    • Permits arranged for road moves
  2. 02

    Stage at the base

Materials and plant are received on the yard or in the warehouse, checked against the list and held until the barge or truck is ready.

    • Received against the cargo list
    • Stored under cover where needed
    • Lifting gear inspected

  3. 03

    Load out at the jetty

Cranes load the barge at the Trans-Woji jetty. Loads are lashed and chocked, and the deck plan is checked before the tug takes the tow.

    • Loads lashed and chocked

    Tow and transfer

Tug boats tow the barges through the creeks to location, and the crews follow by speed boat.

    • Tow plan agreed
    • Life jackets for everyone on the water
    • Radio contact with the base

  5. 05

    Discharge and back-load

On site the cargo is discharged by crane or over the ramp, empties and waste are back-loaded, and the barge returns to the jetty.

    • Cargo signed for on site
    • Back-load list kept
    • Deck cleared before the return tow

Inspection and testing

Every load accounted for, on and off the barge.

A move is only done when the cargo arrives complete and undamaged, so the checks follow it from the yard to the site.
